Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] zdashamber for offering me crash space and making ComicCon (almost) within my price range. She was kind enough to include [livejournal.com profile] brigideire in the invitation when it turned out she had free time to accompany me. Hopefully, it didn't impede their con plans too much. I enjoyed meeting [livejournal.com profile] matociquala (and getting her to sign a book or two) and [livejournal.com profile] kit_kindred.

I won't give a day-by-day account here, but the high points are:
  1. Bought a membership to the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund.
  2. Got to go to a CBLDF reception for Mirrormask. Alas, people involved with the film were out of the country, but it was still fun.
  3. Got to listen to Bruce Campbell speak. Someone asked him if Brisco County Jr was ever going to be released on DVD. He put up clenched hands facing him and counted out on his fingers: "I... am... just... an... actor... They... don't... tell... me... shit..." and with his now open hands gave a shrug.
  4. Got to listen to Kevin Smith speak. He's incredibly funny in person, and if you can't get somewhere where he's speaking check out his DVD "An Evening With Kevin Smith". Funny stuff.
  5. Got to see Serenity. This is going to wow Firefly fans. As a stand-alone SF/action movie, it's pretty well told, and the last stand is very intense. This was a final cut of the movie, and I'm told it added a lot to the previous screeners. I was glad I got to see it.
  6. The dealers room. OMG. It makes other cons look like they have road-side fruit stands.
